Miami Lakes Middle School’s vision is to ensure that students become life-long critical thinkers and rationalize the short term and long term impacts we have on decisions we make. Both the Cambridge and Legal Studies Magnet programs emphasize this vision through the various activities we participate in. Our goal is to present students with real-world situations and work collaboratively with peers to research possible solutions that will yield the best results.
In the Cambridge Magnet program, students are enrolled in Global Perspectives, a course that immerses students in the cultures of other countries, to then solve political, social, environmental, and/or economic issues. In some cases, students must advocate for animals or forests, citizens, or migrants. It is a course that promotes collaboration with peers and research-based decision making, and virtual visits to global sites.
